This sculpture was the first origami-inspired work by Kevin Box. To him, the folded crane is a representation of what we see on the surface of life, while the unfolded crane is a representation of what is hidden beneath the surface. It is said that true beauty is on the inside and that there is more to life than meets the eye. The artist expresses these ideas in this sculpture through the metaphor of unfolding origami.
